Replacing the blow bars on a RUBBLE MASTER impact crusher can be done in 6 simple steps.
1. Shut down the crusher safely
Make sure the crusher is completely switched off and all moving parts have come to a stop. Follow the lockout/tagout procedures before starting any maintenance work and disconnect the rotor.
2. Open the crusher housing and secure the rotor
Unlock the quick-release system and open the housing hydraulically. Ensure that the crusher housing is secured with a safety pin. Lock the rotor using the rotor locking device before starting to remove the blow bars.
3. Remove the old blow bars
Loosen as much fine material as possible before removing the hammers. Remove the side plate, then start sliding the hammer outwards. Use only a plastic or wooden hammer to loosen the blow bars. A steel hammer can cause chipping and injuries.
4. Install the new blow bars
Fit the new blow bars according to the requirements of your application. Keep in mind that opposing blow bars must always be replaced in pairs to maintain proper balance. The optional hammer changing device can help with inserting and removing the blow bars.
5. Clean the crusher housing before closing it
Ensure good metal-to-metal contact so that the housing closes firmly and securely.
6. Adjust the Closed Side Setting (CSS)
After installing or flipping the blow bars, adjust the Closed Side Setting (CSS) accordingly.
